Keyword Selectors

By Kylie Rayner

Last time we discussed how Search Engines Rank Pages and one of the ways they do this is by using the keywords in the meta tags for each page of your website. When you create a web page you are trying to gain maximum exposure to search engines for the content on that page.

One of the ways to do this is by the use of Keywords, that are placed in your meta tags. Take a moment to choose a page on your website and read through the content. What is your target audience for that particluar page of your site? For example if you had a scrapbooking site and the page was about creating a wedding layout, then the target audience would be scrapbookers creating wedding pages and albums.

So the aim here is to select appropriate keywords and use them both in the content and in the meta tags, or pull certain keywords straight from the content and place them in the pages meta tags. So for example, using the scrapbook wedding page, we may select the keywords, wedding album, wedding layout, scrapbook wedding to name a few, ensuring that the keywords are used in the body of the content.

You can also do a little hunting for keywords and see how often some of them are actually being searched for, here are a few sites that may assist you.
